Thanks for popping in folks
Been busy looking after the wee mammy. She was away with [STRIKE]the rest of the coven[/STRIKE] her sisters for Crimbo and has come back "no well" blaming "yon foreign muck" that they had to eat... my mammy Scot's foreign ambassador... NOT :rotfl:
So, been running after her while she recuperates... she's on the mend now, thankfully, as she told me to, "get awa hame" this evening. She'll call if she needs anything.
Scott thanks mate. All the very best to you and yours for 2018
Pippi I wasn't in Fife luv, no... was nearer Torridon area, I think, way up North West somewhere in the empty quarter... however, The Kingdom is a very much loved place to me
Toni'sfriend will possibly be going first-footing after the bells... steak pie sounds braw
I've met many folks over the years that think we Scot's are weird for having a meal at the bells, until I say it's to help absorb the drink and helps to keep us going :rotfl:
Charlie'sTribe really happy to be able to helpIf OH needs any advice or info let me know...

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Thanks Toni'sfriend similar tradition in my family. Hogmanay at Grans with Granda holding forth from his armchair in living room sipping his malt. Uncles all him around blethering awa. Mum, Gran and Aunts in the kitchen (where Gran ruled supreme... actually, she ruled the entire house
) also blethering awa whilst orchestrating the Hogmanay / Ne'er Day Feast. All the weans, all over the house :rotfl:
Then around a quarter to the bells Gran would call everyone to the big table and we would begin. Grace would be said by Granda, who would praise my Gran as much as the good lord for the mealand tributes paid to those who had past and thanks given for new arrivals...
We'd then start with the soup, usually a scotch broth. The bells would usually be ready to strike when we were about to begin the main course, usually steak pie from the local butchers, with potatoes n veg... at the bells the shout would go up of "Happy New Year!" all the couples would hug n kiss, all the weans would hug n kiss Gran n Granda, then their parents, then the Aunts n Uncles and then hug all their cousins. Toasts would be drunk to the New Year and we'd all tuck in...
Ach, those were the best of times... Sadly, the tradition ended when Granda and Gran passed on. Every year though, I remember and raise a glass.

Was at my wee mammy's today. She's coming along fine now and is looking forward to celebrating the New Year with her [STRIKE]coven[/STRIKE] sisters... Honestly, the three of them really are like Granny, Nanny and Magrat... not sayin who's who though :rotfl:
After having dinner we sat down to watch Paul O'Grady's for the love of dogs... OMG...
I know, I should have avoided it but me an mammy sat watching it and our hearts just went out to the poor wee (some no so wee) dogs.
Mammy was very happy to see Mr Hardy esquire, saying and I quote, "He's a lovely looking laddie him and he's so good wi the dugs tae..." OK mammy... OK... mind you, Mr Hardy does look a lot like my Dad when he were a young man
Anyway, it set me thinking (again) about whether or not to adopt a rescue... would need to be an outdoorsy type, so a working breed or a good working/cross breed...
Bestie and his missus have already said they would happily look after any doggie that I were to rescue if I needed to go away for a few days working...
Bestie has just got himself a well earned slap from his missus :rotfl:
He passed a cheeky comment about, "at least the dug will dae as it's telt, eh?"
New Year goal? To find myself a life companion...BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron

I just love your wee Mammy.
A rescue dog? What a great idea since you've got the back up from friends when you're not there.
A life companion? They should be queuing up for somebody like you.
Happy Hogmanay if I don't speak to you before.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
I resisted getting a dog for years despite protests from Mr SA and DD. I eventually gave in provided it was a small dog but not a puppy. We went to Dog's Trust but they weren't keen as we were both working at the time. We ended up getting a Jack Russell puppy advertised in the local paper, totally spur of the moment. The first weekend was awful, the cats hated her, she peed and pooped everywhere and I began to think we'd made a huge mistake. Then after that everything settled down and I wouldn't be without her now. She was a real comfort to me for the 9 months Mr SA was in hospital giving me something to focus on. Now she's great company for Mr SA when he's on his own all day.
It would be brilliant if you could rescue one and they'd have a whale of a time when you go on your outdoor adventures.
Had to laugh at your wee mammy and Mr HardyI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Evening Folks
Not long back from a great day oot hiking in the deep snow clad hills in the Scottish Borders around Walkerburn wi the Bestie.
Was a trail we'd not done before and was a grand experience in the snow.
We found what we thought at first was an old castle but when we got closer was a big square concrete construction; turns out it was once a water reservoir for t' mills...
By an excellent stroke of luck Bestie found a tenner lying in the snow on top of the hill, which meant a free chippie in Peebles for us both on way home
We had a good blether about everything and agreed that a wee dug would be great company on walks like this... a good wee working breed, Jack Russell Terrier, Staffie, English Springer Spaniel etc Affectionate, energetic, full of life and character dugs
In the new year I am going to start the search for a wee furever pal and check all the rescue centres within driving range for to find the one that wants me to be their dad(I already have a list of centres to visit
)
