Single or double socket first fix

Is there any difference in first fix between a single or double electric socket?

Electrician has earmarked a single and I would prefer a double, and I want to know if this will involve any extra work. The first fix for nearby doubles look identical except for the metal box size.

It's just box size and face plates as the job moves on. I bought a house and all upstairs sockets were singles, they were replaced as each room was decorated.

The metal box size is the difference, if your sinking the boxes in solid granite walls it might be 30 minutes extra, plasterboard stud 30 seconds.

So there won't be any extra work. They are on solid wall at present, and this is due to be covered in plasterboard all along the wall to hide a pipe.

No and cost is about 18p a box difference.

Ignore what the electrician has "ear marked". He will install what you want, where you want it. You are the one who has to live with it, and you are the one paying for it.
