What happens if they :
1. Find no fault of my own - will this stay on my record and impact my premium?
2. Consider it somehow my fault and I continue to deny it
Cheers!

You do need to pass the letter on unanswered to your own insurer to deal with (as set out in your policy conditions), and not attempt to "defend" the claim yourself
Make sure your insurer knows your side of the story
To answer your questions:
1) If it is a fraudulent claim (ie it is agreed no collision occurred) then insist your insurer removes it from your record
But if there was a collision but not your fault then it will remain on your record as non fault. Do dummy quotes with and without a non fault incident in your history to see what difference it makes to the premium
2. If your insurer accepts liability then despite your denial it will go as a fault claim on your record.
You can contest this all the way by way of the insurers complaints procedure with the option of you escalating to the FOS if unhappy with the outcome of the complaint0
