Legality of selling electrical item with non UK plug

As there is potential for come backs I have decided not to proceed with sale. Item value not high enough to bother.

I have no idea of the legality, but my husband bought me an ipad dock which we found out later was imported with only a two pin plug. I had to buy an adapter to use it.

Actually that link is just an internal HSE document for Inspectors to notify them of amendments to the Regs.

The actual legislation is HERE.

That said, Reg 5 does state 'No person' which is to be interpreted as encompassing ALL sellers. Not just businesses.

Reg 12 then details the use of adaptors, but you would need to be sure the adaptor you are supplying is kite marked. You should then be in compliance with the regulations, any relevant BS & any notified body approvals. Without such an adaptor, it looks like you can't sell it, but, make sure you check the schedules to see if the widget you are selling is covered. It may not be!

Used these and similar many times to sell items on ebay connected and screwed down, no problems.
