Solicitors - Contract review after the searches

Hello guys!
We are FTB buying a no-chain property.
Basically I have this very unsettling feeling with respect to the solicitors we have appointed and
since the day 1. I soooo hope I am over thinking and this unsettling feeling is for nothing
Vendors contract has been with them since 10 days and they didn't bother to contact me until I contacted them upon learning about it from the estate agent. They told me the searches have been ordered now which would take about 3 weeks until which they wont be reviewing the contract.
Basically people I deal with are the support staff and I have not even spoken to my solicitor as yet. They are informing me that once the searches are satisfactory only then the contract would be reviewed!
Is that normal? Wouldn't it delay the process!? It looks like I am gotten myself into this by choosing them!! Reviews were alright and they weren't cheap either!
How would you deal with such solicitors. Its a non chain process!! But looking at how clumsy they all are, I wonder its going to go for long!
Any advice would help me deal with them going forward!
Thank you all!
Regards,

Searches could take about 3 weeks and if you find something that holds up the sale it could be 3 months. I don't understand why you are so concerned about the contract at this stage. A non chain process means that it could be quicker but that is no guaranteed.
Buying a house takes as long as it takes.0 -
@Cakeguts: Just feels a bit unsettling as so far had to chase with the solicitors rather than them contacting us. But yeah after my yesterday's call and payment for searches, they have been ordered.
My question is:
Do solicitors normally review draft contract from vendor after the searches results? Or they could even do it while the searches are happening to save time?Home buying yet again!! Fingers crossed!!

The time saved would be inconsequential to the time it takes to buy a house. Your solicitors are not likely to be just working on your house they could be doing lots of them. If you keep pushing them they may eventually stop talking to you. You will just have to wait like everyone else does.0 -
The solicitors might well be planning to send you all the documentation together, for you to review.
But if you are concerned, pop into their office and have a chat with the solicior dealing with you.
Take a list if you have any other queries.0 -
Contracts of sale are usually really standard documents, reviewing it should take very little time. Don't worry about it.0

Sometimes there's simply nothing to say. You'd soon complain if you received a large bill and asked them to account for their time. Time costs money.0 -

what do you want them to say to you? the searches are being done and they have a draft contract. you dont need to see it, you want to see the finished contract that youll have to sign.0 -
When I say communication I don't expect them to contact me when there is nothing to say. However they received draft contract 10 days ago and had promised to contact me so I could pay for the searches.
Luckily I found out about it from the estate agent day before yesterday (kind of uncool) and hence immediately contacted them to confirm if they received it.
That's when I paid for the searches which could have been done 10 days ago to get the legal aspects started had they been on their toes. Its just we wasted 10 days because of this.
Anyway! I did raise my concerns regarding this and one of the member of their staff was quite responsive. Hope the solicitor when the time comes is as receptive. Now all I can do is just wait for the contract. Fingers crossed I hope I receive it soon. And that I don't have to chase them.
Thank you guys for all the replies!Home buying yet again!! Fingers crossed!!
