Will try to be short. We Booked a stay for group of us at a YHA property. Unfortunately have needed to cancel but appears that because We used a 10% code at time of booking they don't offer any refund. Can this be right? I understand the terms but their definition of promotional booking seems like any booking that anyone makes with a discount code wouldn't be liable for a refund which seems v unfair. Stay date is over a month away. Ta

The information is there in the T&C, I have highlighted it for you:
http://www.yha.org.uk/terms-and-conditionsPromotional Bookings - Group Promotional Bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable - see Clause 7.5.
7.5 Promotional Bookings Terms & Conditions
Promotional offers will be subject to specific terms and conditions and where they may conflict with these terms and conditions the terms and conditions of the promotional offer shall apply throughout the offer period. This shall apply for stays of one night or more at any participating YHA property and all reservations shall be paid in full prior to arrival. Any additional Products or services included, or purchased as part of a promotional booking cannot be cancelled. No amendments or refunds can be made and offers are non-transferable. Offers are available at selected locations only and are subject to availability. Advertised rates are inclusive of VAT. This does not affect your rights should YHA cancel your Booking in which case clause 12 applies.
If you booked online you probably had to tick the box labelled "I have read and agree to the T&C" or words to that effect.0 -

You have no statutory right cancel the booking.
Regulation 28 of The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 list those corcumstances when a transaction cannot be cancelled.
It includes:(h) the supply of accommodation, transport of goods, vehicle rental services, catering or services related to leisure activities, if the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.
As you have booked accommodation on a specific date, this means that your are totally reliant on their T&Cs.0
