Returning to Work

Hi, I need some advice about returning to work and money. I have been off sick from work for 6 weeks (four of which were spent in psychiatric hospital). I'm entitled to 6 weeks paid leave from work which I have used and now I'm looking to go back to work. I saw my GP this morning and we agreed I should do phased back to work. I usually work 40 hours, Monday to Friday but my GP suggested I work 3 days a week for up to 4 weeks. However, after speaking with my line manager I will only be paid for the hours I work so I will be loosing 2 full days pay for 4 weeks which totals 64 hours. I was just wondering if I am entitled to any benefits to supplement my income as it will be quite a drastic drop. I'm married, my husband works 37 hours a week and his weekly income is less than £300. My income is usually £1274 a month. We also have a 12-year-old son. I have already tried Tax Credits with no joy as our household income is still above the cut off line even with me loosing 16 hours a week pay. I'm worried this drop in pay will worsen my condition as I'm still in recovery. I hope somebody can make sense of what I'm trying to say.

You do make sense, however if you are above the income cut off for means tested benefits that won't help.
You could ask for help with council tax. It is means tested but it depends on your local council policy. Same with housing benefit (or UC.
There aren't really any 'sudden drop in income' benefits0
