Reimbursement of labour costs for faulty parts
howdy - i bought a new Bosch starter motor from EuroCarParts and had a mechanic round to replace the faulty one in the car. After spending 3 and a bit hours taking out the old one and replacing it, he found out that it is faulty... which means another one will need ordering (and another 3+hrs labour of replacing it again).
Has anybody on here heard or have any experience in getting any type of re-imbursement from EuroCarParts regarding the labour costs of replacing a faulty starter with another faulty starter?
Thanks

Most warranties on parts won't include the cost of labour.0

If not fitting it yourself or getting a mate to fit it or mates rates, dont buy the parts yourself.
They supply and fit they are liable for all costs above the original; quote. Thats why their prices may appear a bit steep.
You took a gamble to save money and in this case your horse was last.
If they supply another faulty starter then its going to be very expensive for you. Or just return it for a refund and get the mechanic to supply the part. His problem then.
I did some work on a car and they said ask for John at the shop and say its from Vicky and he will give you a discount the parts only £7.
I went in and asked for the part without asking for anyone and name dropping and it was only £6.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Do EuroCarParts offer parts for sale to consumers? If yes then the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies. If this was a distance sale where section 12 applies, then section 19 (5) would apply wherein the seller would be liable for all costs for the remedy, including removal/fitting costs.
(There may be other relevant sections, but the above is what I noticed with a quick look).0 -
Have a search, someone posted last year about ECP supplying the wrong parts, which was found when they didn't fit after the car was dismantled.
Despite a strong belief here that ECPs responsibility only extended to exchanging the parts for the correct ones, they did re-imburse him for the wasted labour.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

i ordered the parts online, but then paid for and collected them at the local store. I'll read up about the Consumer right act.
Thanks for all the replies!0
