Help! Smart Parking taking me to court

I'd be offering them SFA, then telling them to FRO!Has he tried offering the extra £10 and telling them to s*d off?
Quite safe - not even the most venal of operators are going to go to court over a tenner. And as Smart have never done court - ever - they ain't going to put all that effort for a tenner when they've probably got loads of unpaid multiple tickets worth hundreds of times more than this tiddler.
@OP - tell your Dad to try to forget this and ignore anything else DRP sends him in the next few months - then it will all go quiet. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Hi
According to drpl they are are saying their client smart parking sent a letter to us saying insufficient amount has been paid......But i have no letter from them?
My dad did say I'll pay the ten pound, but they are saying because the account has been opened for so long he has to pay the £120.....Scandalous0 -
The very reason why we tell people never to phone a debt collector (or a PPC) as they are lying !!!!! who will say anything to part you from your hard earned. But drpl said to me over the phone that this will go to court

My dad paid smart parking over the phone. Surely they would know what the fine was!
I haven't received a letter for court. But drpl said to me over the phone that this will go to court
That's a Smart problem, your dad in good faith offered to pay, they decided the amount was £50 so that's it.
Do as Umkomaas says above
And PLEASE PLEASE forget about the DRP idiots, they are simply vermin and as said before they can do NOTHING.
Smart will not do anything, it's a try on by scammers and a judge would not be happy with Smart wasting his time
Tell your dad to IGNORE
You may get further bog paper from DRP until they give up
DO NOT CONTACT DRP WHATSOEVER.

Hi

The idiots at Smart decided that £50 was correct ... end of story
Just goes to show how plain stupid DRP are asking for £120 for a £10 mistake by Smart.
What a bunch of plonkers0 -

That would be a first. No, they are not.
In our view, anyone who:Ok, my dad's not silly
- pays a parking firm
and/or
- phones a parking firm
and/or
- takes Debt Recovery Plus seriously and actually engages with them...
...is certainly naive - a victim of a scam - and should have engaged their Googling finger before getting out their wallet. Come on! It's a parking firm who never sue anyone, a pathetic firm from a nasty industry who no-one here actually PAYS! And ONLY Debt Recovery Plus!
These are so damn easy to beat at POPLA appeal; this thread is depressing. For the love of God stop taking this rip-off so seriously and read the NEWBIES thread post #1 to see what he should have done to save his wasted £50 and also read post #4 of the NEWBIES thread and links about ''debt collector tedious, laughable stage'', to see how to ignore debt collector trash.
Next time, as a family, smell a rat and Google it first, not this late when £50 lighter. It's a private parking firm for Gawd's sake, not a fine!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They are simply imbeciles
"fool, idiot, cretin, moron, dolt, halfwit, a*s, dunce, dullard, simpleton, nincompoop, blockhead, ignoramus, clod;"
Block them on your phone and if you find the letters menacing
and saying things they have no power to say, complain to
Trading Standards about DRP
Remember .... DRP are just timewasters to ignore0 -
if you had read the newbie post (yes I know its long) you would understand that this can carry on up to six years .........
they have you marked down as some one who can / may be bullied ...
try
It may help to try your MP
this is a copy of a post by Bargepole ....
"Some action at last:
http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2017-19/parkingcodeofpractice.html
This Private Member's Bill has Government and cross-party support, and stands a good chance of making it into statute.
The full text of the clauses will be published nearer the date of the second reading, but my sources tell me it's something we should support.
Now would be a good time to write to your MP urging them to support it."
let here know that there have been many complaints about this car park scam
he/ she may well help intervene
good luck
