Hi all,
My husband is from Eastern Europe and isn't allowed to go on the electrol roll as well as not having any credit history here in the U.K. I've read that he can write a notice of correction to the credit agencies to explain he can't go on the electoral roll but can prove his address. Has anyone got any advice on being in this situation and what we can do to help his credit score?
Thanks.
Laura

The credit score/rating is only seen by yourself or us as the consumers and no1 else, the history is whats important.
A credit history building card would help, I believe Luma is one and Aqua is another.
Isnt allowed on the ER, How come ?0 -
Hi,
Thanks for this. My husband is an Albanian citizen and although he has residency status here he doesn't have citizenship and is not entitled to register on the electoral roll. I'm not sure how this effects him in terms of applying for credit building cards?
Thanks

It will almost certainly be something that is considered. If he is a home owner then it will help to show he is a permanent resident, otherwise they won't know if he'll wake up one day and go back to albania and not pay the money back. But the credit building cards are aimed at people who are likely to do a runner, so they have low credit limits and you are supposed to pay them back in full each money.0 -

Are you sure about that? Wifes friend has taken in foreign students over the years and she registered them on her council tax form if staying for a full years worth of study. She didnt if they were only staying for a short while.

Hi forgotmyname,
We have checked on the gov website. It says to register on the electrol roll you must register to vote and then we followed the link filled out the information and it asked where he is a citizen of and then said he can't register as he is not a British or Eu/common wealth citizen so I assume he can't because of the nationality?
Thanks

Maybe its because he is from Albania which isn't in the EU.0

Registering for council tax is not the same as the electoral roll. If you're paying full council tax then I don't think they care who is staying in the property.0
