how big a pot for my tomato plant?

I'd be tempted to ditch the plant and buy a TUMBLING variety called Tumbling Tom which will survive in a large pot the size of a waste paper basket. Tumbling Tom plants come with a choice of red or yellow tomatoes. They only grow a foot tall. They just spread out branches about a foot wide so they don't have to be staked with a cane and you don't have to pull out any sideshoots like you do with the upright varieties of tomatoes as more fruits eventually form on these.
If you're growing indoors lack of light will probably be an issue as they prefer full sunlight. Make sure you have an effective drip tray to put under the pot to catch water drippage or your carpet or floor coverings may get ruined if you over-water.
Do you have a small tall table you can put it on to keep it as close to the window as possible so it gets the maximum light available?0 -
Lack of light's no problem at all, on the south-facing window sill. It would be a problem if I had to stand the pot on the floor in the room.It is not because things are difficult that we dare not venture

you could just nip off the top of the plant after 3 or 4 trusses have been set that way it will put it's energy into the fruit and not to height.0
