How to keep a grey horse clean?!

I've got a horse on loan but he does like a good old roll around.... He hates being bathed - Does anyone have any tips on keeping him clean (other than wrapping him up in clingfilm so he cant get dirty 
)

oh, that brings back memories and short of covering them entirely in masks/ neck covers, nope
The mane and tail shine stuff helps stuff to slide off a bit (obviously don't put it anywhere around the saddle region) but erm, no, water or elbow grease0 -
