I was on Age Concern/Powergen, Holly, until alerted to it's uncompetative charges. You could try two thirds of your annual bills or better still kWh per year. And where you lives makes a difference.
Ebico is popular for low users but doubt you would come into that category.
Also every supplier has special facilities for the elderly and
    fragile, same as Age Concern.
  • Your best bet is to try a comparison site like uswitch. If you tried various usage figures starting as ken68 says with 2/3rds and working up to the previous usage and see if there is a consensus as to which supplier might be best.

We had the same problem with Mum and her heating and eventually stayed with Powergen but changed her tariff to Energy Online Winter Saver but I am not sure if that is still competitive. It could take a couple of months to change provider so now is the time to do it.

Also if your Mum is living on her own now she can apply for the council tax 25% reduction for single occupancy.

Powergen age concern tariff is a scam IMO.

There have been threads about this if you do a search.

If you contact Powergen they will admit that they have other tariffs that are much cheaper.

Again IMO, it is a disgrace that Age Concern(a respected charity) lend their name to something that 'rips off' those on the tariff.

I am sure many people think it carries some sort of subsidy; in fact it is the opposite.

Age Concern get a 'contribution' from Powergen in return for ensuring that older people pay more.(in fact you don't have to be old to go on the tariff - why would Powergen prevent any youngster silly enough to want that tariff.
