EDF Energy Electricity - I am worried now...
Options
EDF energy have started giving you a little chart on your bill showing your electricity consumption in terms of units per day for this current quarter, the last quarter, and the same quarter this time last year.
My consumption has gone from 5.2 units per day this time last year, to average of 13 units per day in the last quarter.
So what is different? I've got a new LCD tv it's 40", a PC that I never owned before, and my ds has gone from having baths (heated by gas) to showers (heated by electricity)
I am puzzled though. If they reckon my consumption has nearly trebled, why has my bill not trebled too?? I'd say it's about £15 more for the quarter.
It's a worry.... I do pull the plug out of the tv when I am at work but leave my PVR on to record during the day... PC stays on too often I suppose.
I don't use a tumble drier and I always do full loads of washing.
What else can I do?

The TV and PC may make a small difference but electric showers are rated at between 7kWh - 10kWh and this will make a big difference. e.g. they cost around £1 per hour to run.

Blimey I had no idea about the shower.... back to baths for the littlun then. He does love to stand under it for ages... my shower is a 10kw too, as it happens..
Thanks for that ! I don't feel so bad about the telly and the computer now!0 -
If your little 'un likes to stand under the shower, then if the shower is over the bath, simply put the plug in the bath. That way the water's not running away and you can also see when you're wasting water. Set a water depth limit before the shower's turned off.
Maybe turn it into a game by putting some floating things in the bath ... which s/he can then play with once the shower's off.
I shower for 5 minutes if it's just a shower - and 10 minutes max if it's a full shower: wash hair, condition hair, defuzz pits/legs, use favourite shower gel and facial scrubby stuff. After 10 minutes that lot's done and it would be boring to be stood there naked. May as well get out.0
