''So what happens to the supply and demand if we add say 1 million council built homes to the rental market, would you still consider it fair?''
yes. its a free market.0 -

But looking at the betfair market, his bet at 1,000/1 must have been about Labour winning this election with a 'majority' which is impossible, it isn't impossible that they could end up forming an unlikely 'minority' Gov, but that is currently only 43/1.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
How high do you think corp tax would be now if at the same level as 2010?
Er, 27%?
Simply deduct the difference and thats the giveaway, its basic maths.
Actually that's basic not understanding how tax rates work.
If you are claiming that its higher because corporations were evading tax
I'm not. What you dont realise is if a government is consistently lowering tax to satisfy a corporations demand for profits, then it will just keep going until it eventually hits 0%, they will never be happy.
Yes except that's not why they lower it, they lower it to encourage businesses to be based in the UK & do that stuff you Labour types like so much like pay wage increases.Clearly tax is not at record levels, because if it was then there would be no need for spending cuts.
Haha how on earth do you make that leap? Are you actually arguing that corp tax take ISN'T at record levels? if so then Google it......
If you think record Corp tax receipts will fix the deficit like magic you don't understand how bad the deficit was.0 -
The tories 10s of billions in tax giveaways.
Labour 10s of billions in investment.
Not sure why you think labour has to convince you but the tories get a free pass.
Tories certainly don't a free pass. Labour's pledges require an unprecedented scale of borrowing though. That exceeds anything ever proposed post war. International investors are the ones that will need to be convinced. If the Fed starts it's process of selling the $4.5 trillion of debt on it's balance sheet and continues to raise interest rates. Then all this borrowing isn't going to come cheap. Fed may even raise interest rates further as early as this week. Putting yet more downward pressure on the £.0 -
Both parties are spending as much money as each other.

Labour 10s of billions in investment.

When the bbc asked may how her policies would be funded, she seemed shocked to be asked the question as if the tories are above having to make their numbers add up.
A lot of Labours policies are just populist, why are they retaining non means tested WFP and triple lock.0 -
What they have offered affects a very large part of the population in a positive way.
The only clear losers I can see from labour's policies are landlords.
You need to look further than a year or two ahead. The reason most of us who detest Corbyn, detest Corbyn, is precisely because the people you think he'd benefit so much are actually the people who would get hammered.
Do you really think rich people wouldn't still be rich?
He would destroy the economy in the style of the 70s. The "most vulnerable" as they get called would be slaughtered. He is the political equivalent of a Payday loan company enticing some poor mugs to spend money they don't have.
Just Google Venezuela. What happened there is exactly what he wants to do here & as has been posted on here many times, he lavished praise on the Government that did it.
It resulted in absolute ruin for the country, with the poorest hit harder than anybody.0 -

I run a small company and employ 2 staff. If corporation tax went up to 27% I would have to let one, maybe both of them go. I know lots of others in a similar situation.
Exactly. But no doubt there will be somebody who's never had remotely what it takes to set up their own company & provide jobs for others along to correct you shortly.0 -
lol you make me laugh hallmark, did each small business let go of its employees at 26% tax. If so it certainly didnt dominate the news0

Is that really your interpretation of what's being said? Surely you're cleverer than that?0
