But both parents are Bengals which will have wild cat genes.

Enclosed gardens if you want to let them out, people do not let pedigree cats roam the breeders usually insist. They get stolen.

Can an owner be taken to court because of a cat fight?

Highly unlikely. How would they prove which cat had done the damage, unless they're wont to go following cats through gardens when they go out on their wanders.

Sounds like the owner was more keen to get involved in a cat fight than the actual cats.
It is not because things are difficult that we dare not venture

We have a Bengal round our way and it has attacked one of my cats and all 4 of my neighbours cats costing £100s in vets bills (mine ended up in emergency overnight vets on a sunday), but I wouldn't dream of shouting and screaming at the owner, although I do keep a look out for it and make sure mine are indoors when it is around (mine tend to stay in and around the garden anyway thankfully). If I found out who the owner was I might make them aware that their cat is a right bully but I wouldn't expect anything from them.

I have to say though that I don't think the owner of our local Bengal is very responsible as it never wears a collar. My neighbour said he didn't think it had been neutered either, but I haven't got close enough to find out - that in my mind would be totally irresponsible, letting an unneutered male Bengal cat out
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

My 4 cats do not wear collars.
Garden backs onto lots of trees/bushes and they would either get caught on branches or forever losing the collars.

My cat doesn't wear a collar either - he has a microchip.
