Colouring masonry paint - help!

I bought some Sandtex Smooth Masonry Paint, described as "brick red". On opening the tin, it looked lighter than the colour label on the tin, so I tested it on a small piece of concrete, and though it was lighter, it wasn't too bad - but it's dried to salmon pink.
Someone suggested I added a small amount of black masonry paint, and that it would then appear browner, but I wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I do have some black masonry paint, so it wouldn't involve extra cost.
Thank you.

Just wondering if you have stirred the paint thoroughly before use0

You will make a darker red if you add black but I'd try it with a small amount first.0
