Puzzling Problem

I have a 2009 Hyundai i10 Comfort (40000 miles). My windows suddenly stopped working out of the blue. The fuse that was found to have blown was the stop LP one. It was replaced and windows worked fine for a few weeks then it happened again, same fuse, then it was noticed the high rear stop light isn't working, though both other stop lights are fine. It seems this light has to be repaired at a Hyundai dealership.
We can't figure out why this stop light should have an effect on the window operation. Any ideas please ?

Rear stop light is prob LED and will need a complete unit If the windows are working and the brake light isnt they arent on the same fuse which i doubt if they were anyway one possible cause is something else in the tailgate is on the same circuit poss the lock and the wires are split in the rubber tubing between the body of the car and the tailgate this could also be the issue with the rear brake light ive seen this issue quite abit on VWs and Audis0

Thanks for the reply. Was very interesting. I can't get my head round a rear stop light fault can stop windows working. Weird.
At least the windows are closed:)0 -
Could you not disconnect the high stop light and see if the windows work ok and stop blowing the fuse.
Get the light repaired before your mot.0 -

A grommet might have worn through, pulled out or something allowing a sharp edge to cut the insulation.0 -
I still can not see the connection between the windows and the high stop light.
I will get it checked out though.
I didn't think the high mounted stop light came into the MOT, as long as both stops are working.0 -

If it doesn't work at all, then the tester has to assume that it is not connected, and pass it.
If less than half the leds light up, it is a fail.
So it must either work properly, or not at all for a passI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Rather than the light and windows being on the same fuse, it's possible they are run from the same "body control module", which will have it's own fuse.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
