Guarantor

Hi we are looking to rent a property, my partner is self employed and won't probably pass affordability on his own especially are we are moving to a new area so he will be starting out again.

His dad has offered to be a guarantor, his parents own their own home and have a good amount of savings as well as good credit history.
The only uissue is his dad is also self employed could this be a problem what evidence will they ask for bank statements etc

Don't want to pay out £400 fees for checks if its likely to fail anyone know anything about this or the likelihood of this being acceptable.

Thanks

Best to ask the letting agent what criteria they ask for as regards being a guarantor. No harm in having a general conversation before you find a property.

Googling seems to suggest that different agencies have different rules.
