Hey guys,
A bloke in my local paper pays for scrap and he's round this week to collect a motor from me and one from my neighbour. Where do I stand for V5's etc. I want to relinquish my ownership from the car as soon as it's out of my sight - in case he decides to rob a bank or have an accident in it or whatever?
He assures us he scraps all the vehicles...
Thanks.

The V5C document has a section that needs to be completed and exchanged for a Certification of Destruction (CoD), which needs to be sent to the DVLA. As a bonus, the DVLA will automatically refund any unused road tax. Your insurers may also give you a financial return, so don’t forget to call them too.

Thanks guys! I forgot to mention, my car is SORN. So no tax/insurance.
Will check out the links0 -
There's the certificate of destruction route from a licenced treatment facility aka scrapyard, but if they are collecting (which they will be as on SORN), hand the guy the V5C, get him to fill in the V5C/3 (yellow slip) and give that back to you. Then go to the online link given above by Paradigm and declare that you've sold it to a trader (which a scrap yard is) by using the reference number on the slip. You can also declare the mileage on therer. Very easy to do - I did two in two weeks last year. What they then do with the car is up to them.--Savings: £304k and counting...26/09/14 the day I reached 100k, 24/07/20 200k, 23/08/24 300k
