O/S Daily Sunday 16 April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was chicken in white wine sauce, veg fried rice and noodles. Today we're going to mum's, bro is cooking lamb, I'm doing desserts, I've just made a chocolate tart and will make an apple crumble to take.

Yesterday was quite a lazy afternoon, although we're really pleased as took DS2 for an eye test and he doesn't need glasses - so hopefully that will mean he's not going to have too much trouble getting a driving licence, I'll be organising that shortly.

We're going to a caravan event this evening so we have a day of doing things. Tomorrow will be a lazy day with a roast beef dinner at lunchtime.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

It's grey and cold outside again. I heard on the radio the other day that because Easter is closer to winter than to summer the weather tends to be colder than we think it should be. Conversely Christmas tends to be milder than expected. It made sense at the time!

My visitors have been delayed slightly as the mother of my friend was hospitalised early Saturday morning. She's on the mend now so they'll all be arriving later today. Their eldest child has decided to come on 'one last family holiday' (for the third time) rather than spend time with her old school friends which I find endearing. Life at university must have taught her about the benefits of being at home! She'll be staying with me as the cottage only sleeps four.

I was hoping to get out into the garden again but it's not looking likely so far. And I'm not going out for a walk either. I'll bring a stack of logs in, vacuum the living room, put away a few stray items and then put on a DVD to while away a few pleasant hours until the guests arrive.

Last night I retired to bed very early to watch Dr Who from there. A glass of wine and a packet of nibbles came with me. one of my better ideas of the day I think. :rotfl::rotfl:

Happy Easter Sunday if you celebrate it. If you don't then I wish you a very happy Sunday too.

    Morning everyone,

Up early this morning as Rosie decided at just gone 6am that her elderly bladder could wait no longer, been reading since and generally catching up on the world.
Didn't see DB yesterday after all, we are now going for lunch tomorrow prior to going to the football, popped over to see DSIL instead and took my nieces eggs. The are probably too old for such things now but with no DM and their other Nan deciding this was the year to stop didn't feel that I could not buy, maybe next year....
We have the Christmas turkey for lunch, it was hastily shoved in the freezer on the 24th when DB was given a bird last minute so decided was time to eat up, I don't like lamb anyway so cheerfully substitute.
Have a good day everyone x

    Happy Easter.

Just finished ironing yesterday's bedding, it dried quite well after about the 3rd shower! We had big April showers and hail storms yesterday - in between lovely sunny spells.

It's very grey and wet this morning, perhaps I will postpone my walk until it cheers up. I'll have to go out to get a bottle of something nice, it was my neighbour's DS 21st yesterday.

Got lots of little jobs done yesterday, you know those that you put off for ages then only take 10 mins or so to do? Some of the paint in the downstairs bathroom was blistering, wish I had left it alone, ended up taking loads off and now can't find the right paint. I can see a total re-painting job on the horizon!

Going to friends for a steak pie dinner this afternoon, they only live across the road so will wait until they phone to go over. No-one likes lamb and Mr friend makes a mean steak pie. DD may join us.

Have a lovely Sunday. Take care. XX

    Morning all.

Nothing to report here which is good. The house gleams, the gardens are perfect, security cameras are up and running and the cars are back from the garage and running smoothly. It would have been my daughter's 37the birthday today.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great Easter all.

Ps no chocolate is to pass my lips today or tomorrow.

Lovely bright day here OH has gone to the boot sale and dd still in bed after clubbing till the early hours, I have stripped the bed and got that onto wash OH will remake them later on.

OH made a log stack in the garden yesterday up against the shed, there is still two thirds to be cut and stacked for seasoning, today I think we will clear out the little shed ready for putting the logs in when they are seasoned, apparently the best way to season them is outside but undercover (OH has become quite the nerd about logs ) :D

Going to ring mum and ask her if she wants to come for dinner I am doing a gammon joint with mash or new potatoes and salad and a cheesecake for afters so a nice easy meal, the gammon is in the SC and I will do the spuds after this.

The garden is looking nice atm I got some nice plants in |Morrisons yesterday Hostas two for £3 and some bedding plants, I think if I had more time I would get the gardening bug back again.

Right have good days all and Happy Easter to those celebrating xx

PS went in two supermarkets yesterday and both completely sold out of Easter eggs ! OH managed to get one in the local co-op last night !
  • Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Sun was shining when we got up, but it has clouded over. Laundry out on the line, hope it dries before the forecast rain arrives.

We are not growing so much produce this year. Last year we gave away more than we ate. OH goes overboard when he gets seeds in his hands; I have emptied the small freezer, its defrosting and I have put it on gumtree. Its in excellent condition, just over 18 months old. I did not expect to get the large freezer back from DS2 when I bought it.

OH in the garden. Turkey defrosted, needs 2 hours to cook, I have also got some apple out, will make a crumble and HM custard to go with it.

Starting to gather stuff for our holiday, clothes already in the bag, its the equipment I cannot do without on holiday, like my small knife and potato peeler. Must remember to put the freezer box on to freeze Thursday night. We have had it for years and it works very well either from power or the car battery. A relic from our caravanning days. Its going to be a frugal holiday, we may eat out a couple of days, one meal will be fish and chips, as always when we are at the seaside.

    Hello all
Just a quick one as I am in the middle of preparing lunch, roast lamb and all the trimmings. mmmmmm !
The yorkshires yesterday came out a bit soggy and eggy tasting , so take two today. ( half dairy free milk and half lemonade )
Unfortunately the Easter bunny forgot me and DH but as we're trying to loose a bit more weight it's ok, because if it's here we'll eat it !:EasterBun
Have a Happy Easter if you celebrate
    Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Why not put a reminder in your phone, so that it cheeps at you at the appointed hour? ;)

Afternoon all, I have been reading, watching rubbish TV (I am not kidding, was total crapola) had a bubble bath, hot cross bun for breakfast, and soon I should think about getting prep done for tonight's dinner. We are having lamb, roast is the only form of lamb I like, with roasties, Yorkshires, must get those done, leeks in white sauce (leeks from friend's allottment) and broccoli, then blueberry pancakes.

Son isn't up yet so no chocolate has passed our lips.

    Happy Easter

Judi, am thinking of you, a hard day for you.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
