Is there ever a time when DFS etc. do not have a sale on???
Why can't they just give genuine prices and stop claiming to give enormous discounts.
Does anyone ever pay the supposed price if there wasn't a "sale".

I remember a few years ago we were looking at a new sofa and visited one of the big names (can't remember which, wasn't DFS).

We were looking at one particular model when the sales man came over and said if we wanted that one to come back next week as it wasn't on "sale" at the moment to fulfil the requirements of the sales law, and would be 45% cheaper next week.

Short answers - no, because it unfortunately works, and yes but they shouldn't.
DFS' entire marketing strategy relies on their goods being constantly promoted as double discount this and sales special price that. The truth is that their sofas are never worth what they call the pre sale price, they are only worth the "sale" price. So while some people do pay that price, the sofas they got were not worth it!
