Temporary Car Insurance

Hi,
We have just returned after travelling for 6 months, and have just bought a new car. My existing car I will be selling as soon as possible, but I need to drive my new car a distance home. I cant transfer my existing policy due to the NCD, so I need temp insurance, but techically we are unemployed, can anyone help us work out what to do?

Being unemployed shouldn't stop you getting insurance cover.
If you are having problems online try a local broker (not Swinton)

There is an app called cuvva that will give you insurance for as little as an hour.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Have you spoken to your insurance company? Why can't you transfer the NCD? I'd have expected that to be possible if you are staying with the same company.
In similar circumstances, minus the unemployed bit, Direct Line let me change my insurance to the new car then added on my old car as a temporary additional vehicle until I sold it. There was a restriction on the time they would allow. From memory it was a maximum of 14 days. Cost was about £30 but that was several years ago.0
