Can I fit Howdens doors to IKEA cabinets?

So we're looking to install tall kitchen cabinets along the back wall of our kitchen. The rest of the kitchen is Howdens Burford range, so to make it all match we'd like to have the new cabinets to match the rest of the kitchen.

BUT.. the tall kitchen cabinets from Howdens are quite expensive. We've spotted the METOD range from IKEA that are like £30 per cabinet, so ideally I'd like to use these and fit Howdens doors onto them.

So my question is - will this be possible / will they fit?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

If they are the same height and width, then the answer is yes. However the hinge plates on the cabinets maybe in the wrong location and may have to be redrilled.

Just to expand on that - The METOD cabinates are 800mm high (according to the Ikea web site). The Howden units are either 720mm or 900mm high.

720mm height is pretty much standard for UK made kitchen units - If you want cheap carcases, B&Q or Wickes may be worth a visit. Fitting Howden doors to B&Q type units may mean having to drill new holes for the hinges (in the cabinets, not the doors).

Ikea cabinets don't have a service duct for pipework behind them, you have to drill each cupboard to fit drainage/water pipes, electrics etc.

just tell howdens what you can get the cabinets for and see if they will "discount" their cabinet price - they just make it up anyway
