O/S Daily Saturday 15 April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, damp underfoot after rain in the evening and during the night, cloudy and overcast again this morning.

DH up and gone to work, I'm now up, have had a shower and brekkie as I'm working also. Both boys still in their pits.

Dinner yesterday was burgers, chips and salad. Not sure what we will be eating later but the fridge is packed full, so can decide what we fancy later.

DS2 has an opticians appointment this afternoon, so I'll be going with him for that.

We visited the outlaws and my parents yesterday after a lie-in and just generally had quite a lazy day. Today we're both working this morning, tomorrow we're going to mum's for lunch, I'm taking desserts, tomorrow night we're seeing caravan friends and Monday I'm doing a roast beef with all the trimmings lunch.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks for the thread nmlc, hugs to those in need.
I shall be cooking breakfast in a sec, it takes a while as the cooker and hob are quite small.
I will have cereal and a banana, we already have a cuppa, first of many.
We are setting off for Benson today it is often one of the coldest places in the area, DS2 used to work there a few years ago.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone.

Your journey sound great HH, I'm glad it's all going well.

I've been standing at the hall window just now just watching the red squirrel taking and eating the hazelnuts I put out. Now I'm cold so popped back into bed!

For the next two weeks I've got visitors. Happily, not actually staying with me so not too stressful. I'm back at work next week too.

Apart from mopping the floor at the back of the house I have no real plans. If the sun actually shines I'll go out for a walk.

    Happy Saturday.
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. It's a better start than yesterday is the best I can say! Well it's fine and not quite as miserable looking at least! But it still feels nippy.

Got the cleaning done yesterday and made a start on washing all the DGD's bedding at last! Will iron that and re-make the bed before I strip the next one. No rush to do it with them all away.

Plan on a trip down town to B & M today. It's a bit off the beaten track so I don't get there as frequently as I'd like. I stock up on herbs, spices and dried pulses there as I find them about the cheapest.

I finally tackled my roots last night so ready to face the world! I was beginning to look like a skunk with a white stripe down the middle of my head! The colour I always got (Chocolate) had been dropped from the range so I settled on Mocha instead. I quite like the colour so will stick with it until they drop that too!

Have a good day folks and (HUGS) to the poorlies, worried or sad who want them. Take care whatever you are up to xx

    Good morning all

It was sunny when I got up but has started to rain now, I'll keep the bedding inside until I see what happens. Got yesterday's washing nearly dried outside - of course it rained once I had gone out!

Had a lovely catch up with a friend yesterday, I had steak & chips with onion and mushroom, absolutely beautiful.

Off for logs this morning and a stock up of goodies for my drawer at work - I like to keep some snacks in for any children without a play piece.

Have a good day, take care. XX

Morning all, it is dry but chilly, a lot nicer than yesterday as we had grey skies and later, heavy rain.

I have been up for a few hours now, just pootling about really. I had home made bread toasted for breakfast, and it was delicious.

OH will do shopping this morning and later I will visit a friend. That's really about the sum of it here for today, I'll incorporate a bit of a walk into my visit.

Hoping for a day without outbursts from son, he hasn't been well for a few weeks, connected to a physical condition, and it has affected his temper horribly. Also his patience but that was pretty small anyway.

Ah well, it will be ok in the end, I'm sure.

    Morning everyone,

Just been out with the dogs, cold and windy but at least it's bright at the moment.

Yesterday was a very relaxing day, most I did was to change the bed, WM is on and hopefully it can all dry outside in the breeze. Today we should have DB and SIL to lunch, am planning a nut roast as she is a vegetarian with a salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. House is tidy but will do a quick hoover round to pick up the dog hair as both moulting like mad.
Hope everyone has a good day x
  • Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need me.

Not a good night, awake for a couple of hours during the night......went through and put the washer on at 7am, so need to get up and hang it out.

Good time ay my quilting friends yesterday, she enjoyed her week n Cyprus, the weather was good, she was quite brown, she said rage walking stick was a great help. She is waiting to hear about her knee, so have left the stick with her for now.

No plans for the weekend, just do what we fancy. I need to start getting things together for our holiday, this time next week we will be there.

    Morning everyone,

It's a nippy one here in SE London. Have been to Aldi for raclette bits. We have friends coming later, so a long dog walk is planned followed by said raclette. Need to strip the children's beds and get them washed and dried today. Will give the floors a vacuum and steam mop before friend's get here at 1pm.

We filled and rubbed down all the doors, architraves, skirting and picture rails yesterday. Hate doing all the prep but it's worth spending time doing it as the results last longer. Need to undercoat in a couple of places, then we can get on with the glossing. I'm off until Wednesday, so will crack on with it tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Not so bright here today but no rain which is good. I have more towels in the wm which can be hung out later.

Yesterday we went to a local prison (no they did not keep me in :rotfl: ) where there is a small shop which sells plants, iron work etc that they make in the prison, I was after plants but they did not have any I wanted but I bought a beautiful Iron bench for the garden, its really lovely and a high bench so that you don't have to sit down into it iykwim ? its black iron but needs a rub down and a re-spray but once done will last for years.

Tonight we are having a cheese and wine evening  a selection of cheese, olives, crackers etc and two really nice bottles of wine a nice simple supper and one that I love.

Might nip over to Morrisons today as my mum said they have some hostas for sale which is what I am after, I also need to get easter eggs still and some bacon.

    Have good days all xx

PS OH is becoming obsessed with getting cutting and storing wood, our garden resembles a wood yard atm, god knows where we are going to store it all :rotfl:but at least we will be warm.

Good Morning chums ,bright and breezy here in north kent at the moment I have been for a walk to clear my muzzy headache that I woke up with(cheaper than tablets )and the washing machine is chuntering away.

The sun is out and a bit of a breeze so it will be dried ironed and put away hopefully by tonight. I am making some apple and cinnamon muffins later on for the boys tomorrow, and probably a Victoria sponge cake as well DGS ben is home for a few days and he enjoys HM cake.

DGS Mikey finally got his new bike yesterday so he is buzzing and a very happy young boy, he managed to save up all of his christmas cash and pocket money and did a few jobs for his Mum and as I promised if he saved half the money I would pay the other half as a sort of early birthday present as well, so he has waited since Christmas and saved every penny he could and we went and picked it up yesterday

Right, time to get a wriggle on, and the washing hung out to dry, hope you all have a really nice weekend and the sun shines down on where you are

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx
