Help - How do I remove chewing gum from carpet

I walked some gum into the car and I can't find a way of removing it from the carpet - which is black. In another forum ice was suggested - (hasn't worked) and also nail varnish remover - which I haven't tried as it's highly infamible and I'd rather only use as a last resort. Anyone know what to do - otherwise tomorrow…

... are you still having problems removing the gum? Aside from the freezing technique, have you attempted any others recommended to you, if so, which ones?
