Anyone else booked a survey independently and being told its almost a two week wait? Both companies i've looked at are at a two week wait and this was to speed it up as the mortgage isn't being applied for until this coming tuesday and we want an indepth survey that the bank can't see.

Don't fret. There are hundreds of expert and professional surveyors out there, and they are all just sitting by their phones waiting for you to ring. They'll be round like a shot!
Surveyors run busy businesses. There are only so many surveys they can do each day. They get booked up.
Keep ring round till you find one who is less busy, or book one for 2 weeks time and be patient.
Your solicitor's searches will take longer, so get those started asap, as well as mortgage application, since time seems to be of the essence.0 -
I think 2 weeks is very reasonable.0

We have an issue with the previous buyers pulling out straight after the survey so to avoid losing the searches fees we are holding out until the survey has come back to be sure there are no nasty surprises waiting. I appreciate they are busy just surprised its quite so long, as seller wont take off market until survey is done...0 -
