I want to transfer some file from my Android phone to my PC using WiFi instead of a USB cable.
My phone tells me to input this address in Windows Explorer on my PC.
ftp://192.168.1.71:21.....
Problem is I can't read the end bit of the numbers.
Can't shrink the screen or turn phone for a landscape view !!
Anybody any ideas ??
TIA

Have you tried assuming that ftp://192.168.1.71:21 is the full address?
TCP port 21 relates to FTP...0 -
Could be........
When it says 'input this address in Windows Explorer' on my PC where exactly does it mean ??
Win 7 if it matters.
Using something called File Manager0 -
Its just dawned on me.........
My PC does not have a wireless card.......!!!!!!
I don't wonder I could not get this to work.
I will now go & sit in the corner with a pointed hat on.
Thanks for your assistance all.0 -
Second question........
Point me at a decent wireless adapter ??0 -
Is your PC connected to the Internet by an Ethernet cable? If so you can take the pointy hat off. The instructions apply as long as the PC is connected to your network.0

No its connected via TP-Link Powerline adapters.........0

That is effectively the same as an ethernet cable (as far as the computer and network is concerned).
It's the router that the phone is connecting to wirelessly.0 -

Or if your PC has Bluetooth use that.0

Hi
Just a small thing...
Your WiFi may be on a different "subnet"
EG: My latop is on 192.168.0.2, and my WiFi is 192.168.1.2 for my 'dog'.
So I suggest a ping between devices first, just to be sure. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
