O/S Daily Thursday 13 April 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone.
Dull but the promise of sun is in the air. I'll be putting on a white wash soon, getting into the garden to pot out a few reusing plants and then going out to collect an order. And got visitors arriving soon too, at least they're staying in a holiday cottage.
There's a small amount of admin to do, record a PVG and then burn some more paperwork. I'd quite like to cut the grass again, perhaps this afternoon when I get back home and the sun has reached the back garden.
My DM and her cleaner have found some of the Easter bunnies and yellow chicks I hid all around her flat. I do this at Easter and then at Christmas I hide chocolate Santas too. DM really enjoys the hunt and I enjoy her pleasure too.
All the YS food I bought yesterday is either cooked or in the freezer or both. The wine is stashed in the small barn and all's well in my world!
Happy Friday, 'Good' or otherwise, to everyone. The first Bank Holiday of the year is always a joy.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a dry morning here but a bit grey. I hope it will brighten up soon not that I have any plans today after being so busy yesterday. DD14's appointment went well I think. Her psychiatrist is a really nice man but he rarely blinks which is a bit unsettling. Your own eyes start watering in sympathy :rotfl:. He is planning to up her dose of meds as she is tolerating them very well and she is actually sleeping a bit better too.
Hubby is now home for four days and is planning on relaxing and watching terrible B movies. As long as I don't have to watch them that's fine. I've just cooked some bacon so I am expecting him to appear at any second. The girls will sleep as long as they can although DD15 is working the whole weekend at the pub.
I am going to make a chicken and chorizo traybake for dinner with some of the mini roasting potatoes from Lidl. They will be harder to resist but I am doing so well and I really want my next set of blood tests to show an improvement.
I was planning to stay in my pj's today but I wore my fitbit yesterday and it showed very little activity on my partso I am going to get off my bum and try to go for a walk with the dog even if it is just around the block. I will get DD14 to come with me as it is important she stays active with the meds she is on.
Well, I hope you all have a fabulous Easter weekend whatever you are doing, take care xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting. I have finally escaped from being bombarded with pics from DD (who is at the caravan) of Communion cakes that she wondered if I could make for middle DGD, OMG she overestimates my talents a bit! They resemble wedding cakes!
A boring day ahead for me. The Friday clean and boy does it need it. Cleaning has taken a back seat to everything else going on this last week. Never mind, it's a miserable dank day and better spent indoors!
Have a good day all and (HUGS) for the poorlies, worried or sad who want them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the start Gers.
Bit overcast here, planning to do a bit of work in the garden so hopefully the rain will stay away. Just had Hot x Buns for brekkie as is our tradition we went for some savoury ones from M*S and very nice they were too.
Salmon today, have a couple of ripe avocados so think will make a salsa to go with, something nice and light to make up for all the chocolate being consumed
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning All
The sun is shining for now, it'll probably rain when I put the washing out!
Need to walk down to Ald! for some supplies and pay a taxi driver - he didn't have any change the other day and said he would get it next time. I am unlikely to see him as I so very rarely get a taxi.
Going to meet a friend for lunch then go to the allotment if the weather stays fine. Must remember to feed the rabbits, neighbours come home today.
Enjoy your week off RR.
Have fun with your visitors Gers!
Hope you're all well, take care. XX0 -
Morning :hello:
Well done for rescuing the jackdaw Lainey
Glad you're feeling better camelot xx
Gers I love the idea of a hunt for your mum! I don't want to do it myself, I want someone to do it for me, lol.
Absolutely thrilled to hear that one of the dogs from Scampi's rescue centre has been chosen as the poster dog for 2018, by Dog Rescue Unites (I think that's their name - they help rescue centres, staff and dogs all over the country). Roxy (SBT) has been waiting for a home for about five years, bet she won't have to wait much longer nowShe's adorable, I asked about her a while back but they said she needs to be the only dog in the household. Not sure Scampi would accept another dog either tbh.
The mice are frolicking in the woods on the edge of Minchinhamton Common
My baby robins (I do think of them as mine, lol) have ventured out of the nest, there were four of them on the lawn yesterday. The parents are still around, so I think the babies must be about 2-3 weeks old.
A pair of finches have been visiting the garden lately, not sure where they live, I'll watch them later and try to work out where they come from.
I have a bit of work to do this morning, it should only take about half an hour. No plans for the rest of the day, I'm just going to potter about in the house and amble around the local area with Scampi. He's recently decided to distract himself from scary things by sticking his head close to fences/into bushes and having a mad sniffing session til whatever it is has passed by. That's OK on paths but to keep him calm during the whole walk, I can't walk him across the green, we have to go round the edge, lol.

Morning all,
Despite sore legs from the gym I played football last night. In goals though, so not too bad. Made a low carb high fat chocolate tart last night. Dead easy and should satisfy my sweet tooth without compromising the diet.
Rumours are we might be leaving work early today. We've agreed that if so, we'll go to the pub (soda and lime for me). I'll then go and buy furniture from Dwell which they'll keep until moving in day which is good. They'll also refund me the difference if any of the items go on sale between now and then. Very impressed.
Leeds vs Newcastle tonight on the TV and since Leeds are my English team I'll be sure to watch it and hopefully an early night. Been shattered lately.
Have a great day everyone.
Oh and it's Friday Tidy today so I might try and get something done in the house too.0 -
Morning all
Hello from the East Street moorings in overcast Oxford, we are about to set off through the Osney Lock to carry on our journey, we are hoping to get to Shillingford today.
Captain Hot Stuff is eating bacon and eggs I've settled for cereal and a banana.
The washing machine did another load yesterday, I'm using ecoballs in the machine as I hope they will do less damage than washing powder.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) if you need one.
Overcast morning, I think it rained during the night, the ground seems a bit wet.
Off to see mt quilting friend later, see how her holiday in Cyprus went.
Geranium cuttings taken yesterday, front window cill looks like something else, OH has started off some seeds as well, hopefully they will germinate whilst we are away.
The clematis montana on the front fence has broken into flower, looks very pretty from the outside, typical very few flowers facing into the garden.
Not sure if the sonic cat scarer is working, but so far we have not had any wood chip on the front path, so maybe it is.
Usual friday night supper fish, wedges and peas. I will try and not spill them all over the kitchen floor this week!!0 -
Happy Good Friday everyone!
I've had hot cross bun for breakfast and I think there's another one left for tomorrow.
The family are coming round for Easter lunch today, as it fits everyone's timetable better to have it today, so I'll be making a fish pie for later and plenty of green veg. Found some fizz in the cupboard so that's in the fridge to drink up and made a chocolate pudding yesterday. We hopefully will settle in for a game of cards or Monopoly Deal afterwards but I usually lose!
Have a good day x0
