How there haven't been more riots yet I don't know

Riots happen because people believe they have no stake in society. Brixton in the 80's, London in 2011. A big factor in you or me not taking to the streets is the fact we'd lose our jobs, our homes etc etc. We have a stake in society and stand to gain from it staying as it is, and also stand to lose the lot should we be locked up. There is a consequence to our actions. For the looters back in 2011 there was no consequence. They had no jobs, no homes, no community, and don't care about you and your 600k flat in Tottenham.
The title of my thread is a bit tongue in cheek yes, but it also carries a more serious point. There is a lot of anger at what is going on in London from people of all walks of life. If you displace enough communities, destroy enough homes, then this anger will only grow. We have already seen a revolution of sorts in the Brexit vote that overthrew a government. We've seen a similar protest in America with Trump and the outing of the establishment there for better or worse.
A riot is the language of the unheard as per Martin Luther King.0 -

sure they have nothing to lose, but if they think rioting will solve their problems then they deserve to have no place in society.0 -

It might be a factor for you but it certainly isn't for me. I didn't have a pot to p*ss in during the early 80s & rioting was as abhorrent an idea to me then as it is now.0 -

well said. WindofChange is your typical soclialistic angry "end of the world" person who thinks everyone should be entitled to buy property and to be able to have the same opportunities as everyone else. he doesnt realise that poor disadvantaged people exist everywhere even in rich cities like london.0 -

I'm not a redundancy away from rioting, and I'm not advocating it, but it doesn't mean I can't be aware of the reasons why it happens. Being poor does not equate to having no hope just as being rich doesn't equate to being lawful. Whether it was your upbringing, or that even as a poor kid you still saw a future, whatever it was, you ended up on the right path. You had a stake in society whether that was indirectly through your parent's guidance, or through your choices.0 -

People don't riot because they're poor, they riot because they're jealous.
If people rioted because they were poor, then the half the world that is much MUCH poorer than even the poorest person in the UK would riot 24x7 & nobody in the UK wouldn't ever riot at all.0 -

exactly. and mr bagofwind is the jealous type as you can see on all his posts. thats why i bet he really does want to riot himself.0 -

And if we take your line of thought, would jealousy be brought about by being poor - i.e. you can't have a new pair of jeans or a playstation or whatever? If you can buy what you want then you're not likely to smash up shop windows to get it.
Your reasoning doesn't work in that everything is relative. People surviving on a few pounds a day in Somalia or wherever may actually be relatively rich. People surviving on a few pounds a day in the UK are likely starving / homeless. This is why your thought process that half the world should be constantly rioting is flawed.0 -

so are you saying its only the poorest in london that rioted?
i bet you i can find a lot more poor londeners who did not riot then the ones that did. in order for someone to riot, they have to be jealous about something. they dont have to be very poor however they usually are poor to some level.0 -
seriously mr bagofwind - go away and smarten up because you are just wasting yours and everyone elses time. you post garbage that just gets put down easily. you are clearly a "end of the world" type person who thinks its all doom and gloom. you dont seem to learn from these forums so perhaps you need to open your eyes more and think a little better?0
