eBay not allowed for bank holidays over Easter?

I had previously always thought that eBay considered Saturday to be a posting date, but had my mind changed after following a very detailed thread on the community boards a couple of years ago. I understand that the situation currently is that Saturday is considered a delivery day (IE counts when calculating delivery time) but NOT as a posting day.

If that is the case then it appears eBay have forgotten the UK bank holidays again over Easter. I have sold something this evening on a 1 day dispatch and 1st class and it shows delivery as Tuesday/Wednesday. All my 2 nd class from today shows as Wednesday .

All a bit worrying as my mail centre is closed Tomorrow and Monday and I am out all day on SAturday, so none of this, even the 1 st class item, will go until Tuesday now.

Ive just found a thread on the community boards, apparently this is a glitch. There is a very useful suggestion that if affected it is worth phoning eBay to ask them to record the glitch, so that if (or when) you get a late defect you can phone and ask them to remove it.

I got onto Live chat instantly this morning, just chatting to them now. I want them to confirm properly that they will remove any defects.

So far they have wrongly insisted that the delivery estimates are somehow based on our seller performance and not on dispatch time and service used. I told them if that was a new ebay metrics then would I have permission to share it wider as that isn't what ebay themselves say- and I was told that it is actually just dispatch time and courier estimates.

I'm being passed to someone more senior now...

EDIT: senior bloke says I must post today to comply with my 1 day dispatch. Have sent him both Government and Royal mail details about Good Friday....waiting....

EDIT 2 - now I'm being told it is my responsibility to ensure I meet estimated delivery times and that means I must post on Monday , apparently that's what I agreed to, and he will not acknowledge that Monday is a bank holiday

EDIT: I've insisted this is escalated and apparently they will email me in a few days - so I've now switched to a 3 day dispatch to try and protect my percentages as I hold out no hope at all I will be protected from yet another ebay error.

This is rediculous. i too am showing Wednesday delivery on second class postage.

The only consolation is that I'm not selling much so shouldn't get too many defects

It's awful when we have to think like that- but I'm the same. I intend to put 2 small and cheap items in the post box today that will be picked up tomorrow, then the rest will go on Tuesday. If all the Tuesday ones give me a defect (which is unlikely as many people ignore the delivery question) I can still stay as above standard.

My sales are so poor I have just slipped back to 1 year assessment rather than 3 monthly on my main account, so need to be careful with defects. I might switch a few things back to my main account again to get sales going up.

Spoken as a buyer rather than a seller I didn't realise that e-bay specified the delivery time - I assumed that the seller did that, based on, amongst other things, bank holidays.

Thinking about it, a couple of items have been received a day or 2 'late' - but I've given the seller the benefit of the doubt when a weekend/bank holiday has been involved, and have ticked the box for 'received on time'.

Nicely done and as a seller I thank you. However there are buyers who seem to take pleasure in being able to mark us down somehow, perhaps not quite as much now as they realise it is not anonymous (sellers can see who marked them late) .

The system should pick up the seller dispatch time, so mine is for instance 1 working day, and then add to that their interpretation of RM delivery times, which eBay assume are basically 1 day for 1st and 2 days for 2nd class.

Don't be ridiculous, if Soolin was making an effort she would charter a helicopter and do the deliveries personally.

No the customer paid for Royal Mail. A helicopter delivery wasn't in the listing :D
