Parking permit woes

I live on a road with residential parking. We are allowed one permit per household and a visitors permit. Over time it seems that the visitors permit has come to mean "second car permit" It is now impossible to find a space at any time of day. Some cars are seemingly permanently parked displaying a visitors permit, many are even taped to the dashboard of the car.
I have spoken to my local council who simply state that its difficult to keep track of cars an basically "tough" Is there anything I can do? The stress of trying to get parked after work s a nightmare.

Are there any restrictions to visitor parking? If yes then the best you could do would be to start a photo diary logging vehicles that are permanently parked yet displaying visitor permits. Then submit a formal complaint to the council.

This "Norris Cole" attitude probably won't endear you to your neighbours though.

The Council has placed the restrictions and - unless this is an unusually abused/busy location - the residents should never have agreed to it. Council Permit schemes are not an answer to parking issues and merely cause more problems, IMHO.

Anyone with a driveway loses their right to park outside their own house because Controlled Parking Zones remove any white 'H bars' where visitors can normally park with agreement of the resident, and replace them with yellow lines.

In my experience there is often less chance of parking with a Council Permit than there was before the scheme existed.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
