Little things to improve appearance

Managing your weight would be one good way to improve appearance and well-being. But health is the main thing, and if you are in relatively good health that is much more important than looking perfect. It is not because things are difficult that we dare not venture

True but it's still good to make the best of oneself whilst getting to target weight.
We all deserve to be the best we can be whatever we weigh so it's well worth making a bit of an effort with our appearance whilst we embark on a weight loss programme. We all want to look and feel good whatever we weigh.
Why put our lives on hold waiting until we reach the perfect weight.
We don't have put up with being second best. All it takes it's a bit of self love and some TLC. A few tweaks here and there can work wonders.
Yes we don't have to be "perfect" but then why would we settle for being less than we can be.0 -
Lessonslearned wish I could thank this 100 times.
Weight is harder to control, telling someone to lose (or gain) is counterproductive.
Starting to take care of yourself improves self esteem which can help with food.0 -
I can second this, I keep finding that I'm slouching quite a bit so have to correct myself, I do feel this can have an aging affect on the appearance.pandora205 wrote: »Something I've noticed that makes a big difference to how old I look is posture. I had noted that I was looking quite round shouldered in photos, perhaps not surprising as I spend quite a bit of time at a desk. After searching around on Youtube I found some useful videos including this one:

Since then I've tried to correct myself when I find myself slipping into bad habits.0 -

Following the Korean skincare regime
Perming my eyelashes
There is time involved in the Korean because im doing a 7 step process at night but I now don't need foundation.
Time involved in the eyelashes (1 hour every few weeks) but my eyes look like I'm wearing mascara and I'm not.
What does the Korean skincare regime involve?
I have had semi permanent lashes done a couple of times, which I imagine gives a similar boost. I got a bit fed up of the cost, so have been trying a false lash effect mascara which isn't as good.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

Clean eating has helped my complexion a lot.
Something I've started using since Christmas is eyebrow powder. I was using a pencil for a couple of months beforehand, but the powder gives a much more natural finish. Both definitely make a difference, my eyebrows are shaped but a little sparse despite efforts to grow them out. It only takes 30 seconds or so to apply, but well worth it.
Where do you get the eyebrow powder from, and what brand?
I did venture into Superdrug to look for some but there was so much stuff that I didn't know what I was looking for, and exited at speed feeling extremely overwhelmed.
And on the daft question front, what the flipping heck is a serum and what do you do with it???All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

The lifted eyelashes look like I'm wearing false as mine are very straight so you can't tell the length. It's well worth the hour it took 3 weeks ago now (still look good)

That breaks it down, morning I wash with foaming rice wash, use an essence, serum, suncream
Night is where I follow the full process, I have no spots, pores are refining, sebum dried up skin looks glowy.
The eyelash perm cost me £7 from.amazon I followed YouTube tutorial's and have enough for at least a year.0 -

Mmm, wonderful thing to tell someone who struggles with disordered eating and metabolic issues. "Just lose some weight, it's not that hard."
I think you meant well, but now all I want to do is hide in a corner until I'm skinny enough to be worthy (in society's eyes) of nice hair and makeup.lessonlearned wrote: »True but it's still good to make the best of oneself whilst getting to target weight.

Thank you, LL. Wise as ever
the whole point of the thread was to try and make me feel that - while being a few kgs overweight - I'm still worthy of looking as nice as I can instead of feeling like I'm fat and therefore ugly too.Where do you get the eyebrow powder from, and what brand?

I like Superdrug's Makeup Revolution "Focus and Fix" brow kit. A serum is like a face cream but does stuff other than moisturising
I know some of this post seems harsh. Maybe it is. But it's how I feel.

Posture!! Yes, of course. Chest out, stomach in, as a friend of mine used to say...
My basic principle is to fix whatever can be fixed. And it has the knock-on effect of making the bits you can't fix easier to live with.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
