O/S Daily Thursday 13 April 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Now light, dry underfoot and light cloud, cooler too.
Dinner last night was roast chicken portions, mash, cauli in cheese sauce, carrots, peas and gravy, ice cream for dessert. Tonight I'm not sure but may make a lasagne and serve it with chips and/or salad.
I'm now on days' off, so will be doing the normal visit to the bank and building society today, then I'm doing the food shopping today instead of tomorrow, so I expect it to be heaving. I'll then do the normal housework, washing, drying and ironing etc. I'm going to try to get as much done today as possible.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's going to be another beautiful day here today and a very busy one for me. I am going out with my lovely CMHT lady at 9am, then the grandchildren are being dropped off at 10.30. DD14 has an appointment with her psychiatrist at 1pm and then my friend is coming over for a coffee and a catch up...phew. The day will go by fast I'm sure and then it's four days with Hubby as he is off work over Easter.
I'm cooking some sausages for breakfast but I am not particularly hungry yet so will save them for later on if I get a chance to eat them. I have a big bag of jacket potatoes about to go sprouty so we will be having baked spuds and various toppings for dinner. The girls love this meal and I will get them to make a big bowl of salad to go with it.
I am off to Aldi's for a change today with my lady so will write a quick shopping list before I go although I am not sure of what they have. I must get some berries though as I am feeling the lackage of something sweet to eat. The diet is going really well though and I lost another 2lb this week so I am now in the next stone down bracket.
Just turned my sausages off as they are ummm, caramelised may be the word I'm looking for? Oh, okay they are burnt. Good job I love crunchy sausages :rotfl:. I don't think the girls will fancy them but the dog is looking ever so hopeful.
Well I'd better go and get showered and dressed. I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all,
Another nice bright day off to work for me but last day for 10 days :j I cant wait to have a lay in tomorrow morning.
OH fixed a garden swing set for someone and they have paid him in logs, the job only took him and hour or so but there is at least a load of logs there, so tonight he will bring them home in the truck and start splitting them over the weekend, should keep us going for a while next winter, we are going to try and stock right up before then.
Chicken Kiev for dinner tonight with wedges and salad (no rocket as I think that's whats causing the bloating / sick feeling) so a nice easy meal. the shoping is being delivered tonight too.
I shall wash my uniform and get that dried and put away tonight / tomorrow.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning chums and thanks to nmlc for starting us off.
Well done dumpling you are sounding really positive today, even though it will be a busy one .
Well I am round at DDs with the boys today and will have a conflab about where we may go as the weather is so nice, its far too sunny to be staying indoors so a council of war is indicated for the three DGS and I and we'll see what we come up with, possibly something sea-side based perhaps as we are only around 30 minutes from the coast.
Had a really good sleep last night, probably down to all the walking I did yesterday in London, those pavements haven't got any softer:):).
Only one more week then I am off to Mancland with my friend for a weeks holiday.Tomorrow I have to go with my son-in-law and DGS Mikey to pick up his new bike from Sittingbourne, bless him he has been so patient and waited for the right one that he wanted and saved up all his spare pennies and pocket money and Christmas and birthday cash. I think there will be one very excited little boy this morning as his Dad ordered it yesterday for him.
Hope you all have a good day and the sun shines down on you what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's a glorious start here but felt flippin' chilly when I first got up after a tossy turny night. I thought there was a budgie chirping in the bedroom but it was the blooming smoke alarm battery warning it needed changing! I can't reach it without the standsteps so it's still chirping away up there. Mr TA can sleep through anything!
We still have some of last week's bananas stagnating in the kitchen so I am going to use them up making banana pancakes for breakfast. I'll have Greek yogurt and berries on mine, whilst Mr TA lathers golden syrup on his.
We are having a day out today and taking the bus to Skipton. It's not a market day but if the sun keeps shining we'll have a wander down to Belmont Wharf and a stroll along the canal. (I'm waiting patiently for HESTER to get up this way!) Followed by a poke around in the cs and a nice late lunch somewhere. No need to rush back as we are DGD-free whilst they are over at the caravan.
Sounds like a good day out JACKIE. You forget celebs lead normal lives too don't you! I once shared the lift in a Cardiff hotel with June Whitfield and her husband who were having a few days away!
Have a good day all and (HUGS) to the poorlies, sad or worried. Take care whatever you are up to xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
LameWolf Yes, dressing is interesting and massively frustrating! I can't wear a bra at the mo, putting it on is almost impossible and if I do manage it, the shoulder strap is unbearable. I can't wear most of my clothes, they feel too heavy, so I have a choice of three floaty tops – which are a bit see-through so I have to wear a vest underneath them. Putting the vest on is a bit like having a wrestling match with myself
I'm pleased to report that the little mouse is now free, he was last seen running into a rapeseed field in North NibleyThere are two in the trap this morning, I'm not sure where they'll end up, I'll let you know tomorrow

I have the day to myself today, I'm going to be paper shuffling, attempting some housework and I have some washing to do. I should've done the washing last night so someone could hang it on the line for me, but I didn't think that far ahead so it'll have to go on the airer in the house. Bit annoyed with myself, the weather is lovely and I much prefer it dried outside.

Morning everyone.
Dumpling - you sound so positive today. Have a lovely time.
Camelot - hope those ABs are taking effect and you're feeling better.
Yesterday flew by, not quite sure why DM wanted me here though. We just took four or five things to the CS and then she pottered around the supermarket. I changed the printer cartridge and made a couple of calls for her and that was it. Think she just needed a bit of TLC and I'm happy to do that.
Going home this morning, will leave soon, and will call in at Wrose on the way. I've got visitors arriving on Saturday for a week :j and then another set arriving the Saturday after for another week. :j. Both are staying in a holiday cottage nearby so it won't be too draining but I need stuff in. Been to the wine shop already!
Right, off to get ready and on the road. Happy Thursday to all.0 -
Morning all and a lovely sunny day already.
I've put the new bed linen in to wash and then I need to make up the spare bed as DS is coming home for a couple of nights from tomorrow. Later on I plan to make the pudding for tomorrow's family meal, which will be a chocolate truffle torte - always nicer when made the day before I think.
Enjoy your day0 -
Hi everyone,
I woke this morning to a beautiful red/pink sky. Wish I'd taken an picture now.
Been to the the gym and I'm now in work. Standard day ahead but I've got to nip out a lunch for my final fitting of my kilt for my friends wedding on Sunday. I don't expect there to be any changes.
No plans for this evening although I might bake. TBC.
Jackie - What's a "conflab"?0 -
Morning everyone,
Bright and sunny here, it was cold last night and have to confess clicked the heating on for an hour before going to bed.
We are meeting DSS's in town for breakfast, not sure when they will be available over the long weekend and we are busy on Saturday and Monday.
Had to pull up the floorboards yesterday to let a jackdaw out  they have been hanging round the chimneys lately even though they have cowling on them but have obviously managed to pull it off because all of a sudden heard a weird noise and yep, one had fallen downPoor thing, could hear it scrabbling around and calling to its mates, it had somehow managed to get under the floorboards in the office, luckily we don't have carpet down. Trouble is I don't do big birds, did manage to unscrew the board and had an idea to tie a bit of string around the screws, covered what I could and opened the window wide. Stood in the doorway clutching my piece of string and pulled hard, up come Jack and cowardy custard shut the door quick. Stood outside for a few minutes then peeked in and he was gone :T
So, job for today is find someone to get on the roof and check the cowling, don't want to be doing that again.
Right, time to get a shift on, have a good day all x0 -
Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Bright sunny morning, but the wind is cold, so I am informed. I really need to get th geraniums sorted today, so guess I am going to have to put on a jacket and go outside.
I forgot the bed linen needs ironed, so that will need doing today as well.
OH requested stovies tonight, so that's supper sorted.
Hester posted on her blog last night, they are in Oxford, she made me howl with laughter, I won't tell why, go to her blog and see, although she may well post on here. It involved towels and knickers!!0
