Question on insurance

If i book a holiday now with a tour operator and pay for the flights but book travel insurance in a month's time would I be covered for these monies i've paid and would i be covered for a holiday booked before commencment of policy.

thanks

  • Generally yes. You are still booking before the event. Think about it you can insure a car that you have already paid for before you insure and drive it. The same principle applies here.

you would only be covered from the commencement of the travel insurance. Ie you wouldn't have any cover from the time you book the hol until you take out insurance. If you had to canx your hol in that period, you wouldn't get anything back.
  • As always it depends on the wording of the policy. However, generally the date significance relates to a cause that brings about a claim i.e. booked 1 month ago yesterday got bad flu today taking out insurance in case I have to cancel!!!!!

You have to give insurers a level playing ground!
