Traffic Shaping and Fair Use Policy

Looking at different broadband and TV offers at the moment. I know that traffic shaping is done by most of the major IPs at peak times. I am looking at Plusnet and see they have a fair use policy even on the unlimited contract I looked at. Is fair use really that bad? Im on BT broadband unlimited option 2 at the moment.I dont think BT do fair useage if you are on an unlimited contract so I am concerned if it would be enough to put me off signing up. Anyone any experience of being on a fair use policy and for that matter traffic shaping? Not sure if BT traffic shape either (although I would imagine the answer is).

I have been with Plusnet in the past and didn't notice anything in regards to traffic shaping. I suppose if you are heavily in affected service like torrenting then you would notice the effects but for normal web browsing and watching things like iPlayer it's not an issue.0
