Last Sunday my two nearside tyres were ruined a deep pothole, the road is due to be closed for repair this month but there was no warning near the pothole.
What is the current state of pay claiming for the damage, I am I right in thinking the was some sort of get out of jail free card for the council if the road had been inspected?

The real question you should be asking is should you be driving if you aren't able to avoid such a massive pothole.
Just suck it up and put it down to experience. Tyres aren't expensive.0 -
If you can prove the council knew about the damaged surface, but did nothing within a certain timeframe (depending on the road classification), they're liable.
Given that the road was clearly signed for closure for work, you really should have been expecting issues and driven appropriately.0 -
It was nighttime, an unlight lane, pothole deep, not massive, never said it was massive, where did you get massive from? liltzero should you be driving if you can't read or imagine things? The tyres are low profile Vr rated bill nearly two hundred and ninety pounds with fitting valve and balance, that may be not expensive to an expert driver such as liltzero but to me it is a cost I could do without just because the road was not maintained.0

You did three hundred quid's worth of damage on a pothole that wasn't "massive", which you couldn't see in time to avoid...?
Mmm.
So you're driving too fast for the conditions, in a car that's ill-suited to typical UK roads, and which you can't afford to maintain properly? Is that what you're trying to tell us?0 -
low profile tyres don't like potholes, factory fitted, insurance co would not like alterations three hundred is the price of the tyres fitted, side wall split by the sharp edge of hole. Lucky for me it was not BMW as they have a reputation for wheel damage as well.0

It must only be me then that has ever suffered pothole damage, what world do you live in and while I can afford replacements it is an unwanted expense, I'd rather spend three hundred pounds on champagne and caviar.........DOH.0

On a more serious note a cyclist or motorcyclist would be in more trouble.
I put it down to lack of experience, going to finish up now book some driving lessons, an eye test see if I can trade the car in for one with solid tyres or better still tracks.
Oh and look up the definition of massive, to me a sink hole is massive, but the I'm not one of those men that have to exaggerate.0 -

I doubt it would make any difference to your premium putting smaller wheels on.0 -
There are some self-righteous pillocks on here....Or do they just get their kicks winding people up?0
