Card refund and upcoming bank holidays

Hey, just a quick question I wonder if anyone could answer for me.
Basically I was away visiting my mum in Spain and had rented a car with Avis. They messed up big time and charged me 10 times the amount they should of for hiring the car an extra 2 days. £343 instead of £34, put me in the red with my current account at like -£140, luckily the bank understood it wasn't my fault and aren't charging me for an unauthorised overdraft. Was on the phone to Avis for ages on Friday, finally got it refunded but it could take up to 5 days for it to reappear in my account. I assume if it's going to be the 5 full days this is going to take it to Friday which is a bank holiday, as well as the following Monday. so it wont actually appear until Tuesday?
Thanks!

You've shown one benefit from using a credit card. If you have a decent limit it's irrelevant what authorisation is made and then credited back to the account as it doesn't affect your current account balance.
Do you have any other cards you can use until next week?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Sadly I don't have any credit cards. Also most car rental companies will not accept a credit card which is annoying.0

I'm quite sure that's wrong... Also go and get a credit card... Stuff like this would be solved in minutes instead of weeks... The credit card company would refund your money much more quickly..0 -

from the AVIS website FAQ
What credit cards can I use?
You can pay using Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club credit cards.
In fact, you can only use a credit card to hire a vehicle in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Canada. Unfortunately we can’t take debit card payments in these countries.
According to that you can only use a credit card in Spain.0 -
