AR/AP marker

Hi all, I have just found out that I have an AR marker on my credit file in 2015 for British Gas. I have a good credit score but recently failed to get a car loan and my eligibility on here for any credit card or loan is mainly 0% with an odd 20% chance. The marker was put on when I changed supplier and they offered that I pay the outstanding balance over a few months, no mention of AR marker or adverse credit report issues being added to my file. The amount was cleared within 2 months, is there anything I can do? I've been through bankruptcy and the dropped off my file a year ago, I thought I was just getting my credit life back in order but thus will affect me until 2021! All help greatly appreciated.

In the grand scheme of things, I don't think 2 months of AR/AP markers will have a huge impact on your credit file.
Are you sure it's nothing something else?0 -
Hi
I’m not sure you’ll be able to get them removed if they reflect what actually happened. All you can do is try asking British Gas.

My file shows no negative markers, no late payments, do defaults etc, credit rating on experian is in excess of 900, the only way I found out about the AR was British gas sing checkmyfile instead of using experian which I subscribe to. Really don't know what to do to get back to being eligible. I'm on the electoral role etc etc0

I don't see it was an arrangement as they offered, I thought that AR markers were for DMP etc. Do you know how badly this affects my prospects of getting credit?0

Checkmyfile isn't a credit reference agency, it's a 3rd party product that combines the data from Equifax and Call Credit and some kind of score aggregate from Experian.
- To check your Equifax report properly use https://www.clearscore.com
- To check your Call Credit report properly use https://www.noddle.co.uk
The best way to check Experian aside from their free trial is a £2 statutory report from http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/statutory-report.html
Make sure you cancel your Checkmyfile trial if you have one.
It's possible that the criteria for the loan that you applied for specifically prohibited AR/AP markers, at which point you need to find a different lender. If your credit file is as clean as you say you should have no problems getting a competitive car loan, even with the AR/AP markers.
Now this is Debt-Free-Wannabe, so I should caution you about taking out a car loan! Can't you buy an older car for cash instead? :-)0
