I would personally go for WD rather than Seagate (maybe i have been unlucky but i have had quite a few Seagates fail on me)

I mostly use cloud storage these days as my main backup, but do keep a local copy

Feel the same. We have a good few large sans at work. Every week has one or more disk failure is these one that uses seagate, Our now defunct EMC and the few clarions were also reliable, We also have a good few Nexsan boxes, think we get a failure about every 6 months to one a year, I know they do not run seagate, but think western digital... which is now bought by seagate.

I was also after a 4T 2.5, as the difference between that and 3T is not that great, if you buy the Seagate 4T, but ended up buying the 3T one from another manufacturer.
