Hi all
My OH's son is turning 13 next week, we've been going out for a while now & I would like to buy him a couple of bits from myself & my 2 children. When my OHs daughter turned 6 earlier I bought her some Trolls items as she is mad about Trolls however I am really struggling at what to get her son.
He is into rugby & football, x-box etc but I am not one for buying computer games (in case he has them) & I really dislike buying vouchers or E-cards for the xbox...
Can anyone help suggest ideas?

I'm sure he's already given your OH some big hints - or even a shopping list ! - so just crib something from there.0

If he likes games then ask your partner what games, for example my 13 year old likes pokemon games and we ended up buying him a boxset of manga pokemon books - they are the only books he's voluntarily read and asked for more of.
However if he doesn't like pokemon that wouldn't help0 -
A spot of benevolent interrogation is indicated, though whom to start on? It's entirely reasonable to lean on OH a bit - indeed ask direct what's he thinking of so you can add accessories or whatever.
Unless the youngling has no phone &/or in contract most will do happy backflips at a phone credit voucher, although you will have to ask exactly which phone supplier they're with (get 'advice' for your children, perhaps?)
Ask the youngling direct what he'd like "as otherwise it'll be socks..."? (Even better if you're holding something fiendishly girlie & Disney at the time.) Most teenage lads will spool off a wishlist in short order when confronted with socks as an alternative... Then blush & recant some of it, but it's all useful info.
All else fails, gift cards for food for after the rugby & football? Many lads seem to need feeding about 7 times a day.0 -
ASk your partner for suggestions.
However,
Something such as an Amazon voucher which lets him buy things he wants is almost always welcome, you could add to it with something small - a keyring or socks with his favourite team logo, for instance.

I totally understand your dislike of vouchers ect for the Xbox (i was the same way), however i really think when someones happiness and that they can then spend it on the perfect present really should be a big push for you to make it LESS about you and more about them.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0

If he's into sports, have you thought about a GoApe voucher? Brilliant fun0

A ticket to see his favourite rugby/football team?0
-
Fan membership for his favourite football (or rugby) club - for under 16s they are usually reasonable (under £25), and often come with welcome pack (and discounts etc).0

Cinema voucher (although a voucher). Does he read? I bought my goddaughter smiggle stationary and she loved it.. Not sure if it is all girly but it is fab.0

Does he like buying his own clothes? Perhaps a voucher for H&M?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
