We got my grandparents a diamond anniversary rose tree from Amazon and we did them a family tree of wedding photos. We put their one in the middle then my mum and dad aunt and uncle then mine and a picture of my brother and his girlfriend as a sort of here's what has come from your marriage so to speak

Not on the High Street!!! Of course!

And I just loved one of the diamond necklaces, might have to get it anyway - you don't always have to do what your mother says...

Right - diamond-shaped cake, balloon 60 (or 60 balloons? That could be fun!!), This is your Life, and something from Not on the High Street. Sorted.

I also liked the idea of buying them a weekend away, but they've already bought one for themselves!! They're staying the Friday night and the Saturday night at the hotel where the party will be, and the rest of us are just arriving there on the Saturday night. And they're off on (another) cruise in May - I can't compete with that!
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

Order the card from the Queen anyway. It will still be a lovely surprise, even if it is a little late. (My grandparents had one - it is lovely with a tassle too, if I remember correctly).

When I did a photo album for them, I cut the messages and names from the cards they received (obviously this was some months later, when the cards had outlived their usefulness) and arranged them on a page or two of the album. It looks really good, and is interesting to see how handwriting varies across the generation.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

You can still apply for the card from the Queen. Siblings and I clubbed in and bought them a few days away, blagged a free upgrade to a suite a goodies in their room daily.Mum and dad loved it.
Afternoon tea and a stay over in a nice hotel is another idea.

I can see a theme here with my suggestions, experiences rather than gifts . Congratulations to them both it certainly is an achievement. I've got 45 years to go!!

Could you contact the hotel and maybe get a bottle of fizz or some flowers (or whatever they'd like) put in their room for when they arrive on the Friday?

Some brilliant ideas - particularly the message from the Queen, didn't know you could do that for anything other than a 100th. Unfortunately we're too short on time (only 9 days to go, and the website says 3 weeks) - will bear it in mind for the 65th!!

The link says you can apply for a belated message up to six months after the date, so I suggest you do it for their sixtieth anyhow. At the risk of being charged with treason, I'll point out that the Queen may not be around by the time they reach their 65th....

On Dad's behalf, I got one of their wedding photos transferred into a crystal paperweight. I know it's a 'thing' but it's not a big 'thing'.

It would have to be a pretty good personalised gift to make up for the fact that it would be three months late.

(Why do people bump old threads like this?)

I don't know why either but the poster has bumped a number of other old-ish threads and also posted a link to the same website.
In fact, a lot of the posts have links to that website.

My first thought was that I doubted that the poster is spamming but I'm wondering why this website features so prominently in his/her posts.

Good spot, it's clear spam. Both the websites they promote are owned by the same company as a WHOIS search reveals. Reported.
