This is a public forum and no-one else here has to justify themselves to you - what gives you the right to ask me for "evidence" of what I post?
Exactly, it's a public forum where anyone can post anything. That's why making sweeping statements with no evidence to back up what you are saying is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.0 -
LOL seriously?! :wall: Anyway, moving on..........
If you want to claim others are incorrect, it's useful to explain why, otherwise you end up looking foolish.
Yes it's a public forum and yes you can post what you want, but there is no merit in it. You aren't being helpful. That's your choice, but why would you choose to be unhelpful on a forum?0 -
Well I've now spoken to the landlord about whether anyone's insurance (his or the people who own the flat where the leak came from) would cover the costs we have incurred through the flood. He says no, the insurance is only for building work. It's so fustrating because I feel like all the other people in the house own their flats so the insurance is paying for everything and they have not had the inconvinience of moving out. Our flat was the worst damaged and as tenants we are the ones who will be out of pocket as we have incurred a lot of costs through having to move again and we can't get these back from anyone. Thank you for all your suggestions anyway!0

As I have already said, the landlord will have landlord insurance, and this will pay for you to be housed elsewhere whilst the property is sorted out.
BUT... as you agreed to surrender the tenancy, then this no longer applies.
It is all very well your collegue advising you to claim, but perhaos they should have advised you to not to surrender the tenancy?
Claim your check out fee back and move on...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
