When Santander application was being processed in branch with us they couldn't find our address, we gave them previous 6 year council tax bills as we've lived at the same place (rented) & was told thats ok.

Have you registered on the electoral roll every year whilst living at the rental property?

You need to sort out the addresses you use for correspondence. Change them all to where you live. Lenders will naturally be cautious if people aren't transparent in the manner with which they handle their affairs. From a lenders perspective too much hassle to consider doing business. As there's better customers applying all the time.

You don't live in Edinburgh, do you? I ask because we have the same issue with Royal Mail and the council using different addresses. Even though we are on the electoral roll, the credit reports don't recognise it! Another person on this forum had to get the council to write a letter to correct the credit report. I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck!
