Received this email from Monzo today, no doubt old news to some of you:
Monzo April Journal
Welcome to the April edition of the Monzo Journal! After 2 years of hard work, thousands of pages of documentation and a couple of sleepless nights, last week we received the fantastic news that our banking licence restrictions had been lifted. We are now a fully authorised, unrestricted bank 🎉
We started down this path in February 2015, perched on borrowed desks in the offices of our friends (and now investors) at Passion Capital. We were 11 people with a few ideas sketched on whiteboards, united in the belief that we could build something that improved the lives of the people we cared about - a bank that really tried to help people. A bank that we'd be proud to call our own.
Getting our full, unrestricted banking licence last week was a huge milestone for everyone at Monzo. It's the result of incredibly hard work by hundreds of people. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them, and you again for your support.
We've worked so hard to get here, but we should remember this is not the end goal - it's just the starting line. I'd like to invite each of you to join us on the journey ahead. The race begins today!

The current Monzo cards are not bank accounts so cannot be covered. When Monzo open current accounts later this year they should be covered by FSCS.Anything I say in no way constitutes financial advice and anything you do is your own decision.0 -
