    So I've just recieved the quote from the other bathroom fitter. Here is the pricing breakdown.

    Following the recent visit to your home, I am pleased to present you with your
    quotation for work discussed on the refurbishment to the family bathroom. It will
    include a brief outline of work to carry out and a breakdown of total labour and
    material costs to complete the job.
    Description of work:
    -Isolation & decomission of existing suite and tiles. Reboarding all walls where
    necessary in preperation of plastering.
    -Re routing of pipework to suite new suite, installation of new ceiling extractor ,
    incorporating a spotlight, within the shower enclosure.
    -Plastering of room, all walls and ceiling.
    -Installation of floor tiles, potentially including underfloor comfort heating. Tiled
    upskirts.
    -Installation of new suite with enlarged shower enclosure, Thermostatic shower, c/c
    toilet, bath and wall hung basin.
    -Installation of tiles to all wet areas. (Wrap around bath and splashback to basin.
    Shower cubicle, full height, floor to ceiling.)
    -Finishing installation of any fixtures and fittings, new shelves within the washing machine cupbaord, door trimming etc.

    -9 days labour for 2 man team. (Plumbers) £ 1980.
    -2 days labour and materials. (Plasterer) £ 250.
    -1 days labour and materials. (Electrician) £ 230.
    -Tiling adhesives, grout, trims, primers etc. £ 170.
    -Plasterboarding and adhesives. £ 100.
    -All plumbing related tube, fixings and fittings. £ 145.
    -Miscellaneous items. (Timber, shelving, pipe collars etc) £ 100.

    Total cost: £ 2975.

    To have comfort heating installed there woulld be additional costs for both labour and materials used for installation.

    - 4sq/m of heating mat and manual thermostat. £ 190.
    -Thermoboards and electrial fittings. £ 140.
    -Extra days labour to install. £ 200.

    Total cost: £ 3505

    The only question I've asked is if the price includes putting some recessed shelving into the stud walls as we discussed that.

    We would still need to pay for the suite on top of that but we did have a budget of £4k in mind so it leaves us about £1.5 for the basin, bath, shower, enclosure, toilet and fixings. (Thats if we dont go for the underfloor heating).

    So is this quote fair?
  • I would say your second quote Is a good price we are having similar quotes at the moment (although we are having a couple of valves replaced in the airing cupboard, plus the toilet and sink moved slightly and radiator removed. The quotes we have had were £3400, £3700' £4200 and £5650!! These included grouting and adhesive and any plumbing fixings.
