Parking ticket info

Options
Hi there
I may have missed a thread on this already so I apologise if I have.
I received a parking ticket whilst on holiday in Devon and I thought it was a mistake. As far as I could tell the restrictions where limited as there was a white have you paid and displayed sign with a yellow 8-6 sign underneath. I took this to mean the parking restrictions where 8-6. The council finally got back to me 7 weeks later to tell me I was mistaken and that I should have known that the yellow sign did not relate to the pay and display zone.
I feel that I maybe have grounds because the sign is ambiguous and maybe even because they took so long to get back to me that I was beginning to think that they were not going to persue the matter. Can anyone tell me if it is worth challenging further or not? Based on the signs or the long time it took the local council to contact me and subsequently reject my initial challenge?

If they have a sign for the parking saying 8-6 then yeah that would mean the restrictions are 8-6. I would definitely challenge it because by the sounds of it the ticket was wrongly issued. Have you got a picture of the sign? If not you could look on Google Street View to see.

You've done more than miss a thread you've missed an entire dedicated sub forum.

  • I already challenged the local council about this but they say the sign with times on is to indicate a no stop zone and not part of the pay and display car park and I should have known this already.

To be honest I think you would probably be better off asking on the Pepipoo forums. They specialise in council tickets.

They're right, you are expected to have read the HC.

These yellow signs apply to the no waiting restrictions (yellow lines), and those relating to permitted parking are white.. See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/road-markings

Best to take this one over to Pepipoo TBH - they are the experts on legit/council tickets.

Sign-up with aything but a hotmail address, read the introduction posts before posting and be ready to post all the supporting details they ask for, incl images of both sides of your ticket - with all identifying details and numbers removed of course.
