Bulking out your meat, poultry or fish with lots of veg and the addition of pulses, beans, soya, tofu etc will still add protein and lower calories. Eating smaller portions of meat etc with these things also give good flavour and variety. With good seasonings, spices, herbs etc you'll also enjoy the meals more.
I'm keen on my local butcher and fishmonger as they get to know you and you can be upfront on what you have to spend and what dietary requirements you have. They can often come up with good ideas and different things to try.0 -
Do you have an aldi near you ? My DS is high protein low carb and I find them good value for meat (as well as everything else !) especially their frozen premium chicken breasts 700g £3.49

I haven't got my receipts to hand at the moment but as I posted elsewhere, a recent shop included non-frozen large gammon, a whole chicken extra tasty "cook in the bag" & 500g of 5% fat mince, plus 1400g frozen chicken breasts, 4 cartons almond milk, 2.5kg spuds, lots of salad, veg, mozzarella & goats cheese and other stuff for freezer (chicken grills, chicken kiev, chips, wedges etc not for DS !) came to £43.32 so was pleased with that.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

I used to use Aldi, but went off them as I had more than a few issues with their fresh stuff going off, even when unopened and before their use by dates.0
