Yes, I did park last year's allowance in cash but now, and after much thought, I intend to invest both allowances together so the full £35,240. Only time will tell if this is the right thing to do but I'm happy with my decision.

You have to do what is right for you but at least you have now made your decision.

I have already invested my full ISA allowance for this year so only time will tell whether its a rollercoaster or merry-go-round!

Sort of person - positive, straight forward and fairly laid back. Going back to my original post, I feel that any world unrest will have to be dealt with politically mainly between Russia and US/G7.

Russia always maintains they're not bothered by sanctions but in reality it hurts them a lot and that is why I believe they eventually stopped further action in Ukraine.

Amazing how this propaganda persists. I remember all those invisible Russian armoured columns rumbling through the mainstream western media as the US engineered coup d'etat was unfolding.

'Invisible Russian tanks' - tell that to the people that were killed in Eastern Ukraine! I worked with a diverse set of people in Ukraine that were both Russian & Ukrainian patriots but at least they both agree that without the Russian 'armoured columns' and air strikes there would not have been such a war and loss of lives! Propaganda from both sides but certainly not from one side only!

It's a long and complicated story, certainly not the one told.

The putsch rebels started something they couldn't finish when they invaded and started bombing the Donbass. The tall tales of Russian armoured columns and troops were nothing more than a propaganda face saving exercise when they got there backsides kicked back to where they came from by the people of that region.

Is the world seriously expected to believe that a bunch of US backed ultra right wing clowns in Kiev fought off the Russian military?

There could be some world issues that cause major disturbances but as a positive type of person I am investing my 20K now.

Speculator. We all like to think we believe we know what might happen next... We simply don't. Just focus on what you can control in the short term, cash flow for 6 months to 1 year covered.

The rest is all a gamble or rather being invested in capitalism. And we would like to believe capitalism works for us.

This is a 'savings and investments' forum not a political one but I too know quite a few Ukrainians and they feel very strongly about the Russians that live in Eastern Ukraine claiming it to be there land/country! The Donbass is Ukrainian territory and unfortunately has been invaded by Russians for many, many years and that's why true Ukrainians are unhappy with this situation! The Russians came into Eastern Ukraine/Donbass region for work and a higher standard of living but it doesn't mean they can overtake the the Ukrainian sovereinty!
