So SPAM in a can isn't OK anymore? Happily spam in a plastic packet has arrived - but lacks the "shove in a pocket & forget about it til hungry" as the plastic is a bit more fragile.
This is the link to it on my supermarket
Need I say it's a pretty much DofEproof foodstuff, in that it can be eaten hot or cols, but if you want to heat it, so much more flavoursome!

Don't forget the little plastic fishes of soy sauce that come with even tiny packets of sushi add zing with blissfully little fuss. Though we got a multispice shaker from a pound shop, emptied out the spices we didn't trust or want to experiment with & reloaded it with black pepper, italian seasoning, garlic granules & (for one enthusiast) dried jalapenos.

"Do it properly", eh? Eep. Ah well, there's nothing stopping you taking a couple of Brillo pads along depending on where you'll be washing up. Or prepping your own porridge in ziplocks, with your favourite additives already in there - raisins, other dried fruit, sugar, milk powder etc but the cleaning the pan after real porridge is always stickier...
  • Dried fruit for the porridge and for snacking on. Pound land does snack size packs or buy bigger bags and divi up

Tuna pasta bake, pack of tuna, pack of passata, pasta. Don't forget small baggies of seasoning .

They do long life bags of chilli and curry if you want to cheat a bit

Instant hot chocolate is welcome on cold nights

Those packets of potato slices are lovely fried in a pan with smoked sausage

Always have some of those individual sachets of brown sauce to hand. Anything tastes better with one of those :)

Thank you so much everyone for your ideas. I have done all this with my children a few years ago, but just wanted to do a fun cooking night next week at Squadron for a change but wanted to tie it in loosely with D of E. Some fab ideas here will collate them all later and do a shopping list and maybe I'll just put them all on a table and see what the groups can come up with. Had originally thought of doing it Ready Steady cook style but drew a blank lol!

Any ideas for puddings that can be done on a tranjier - can only think of banana wrapped in foil with chocolate buttons or smoores at mo but sure there must be more!!

Eggy brioche with chocolate buttons, or (easy win) popcorn?

Don't believe this "can't take eggs" lark - just makes everyone a bit more thoughtful, but happily anticipating. Add milk & flour & you've pancake batter...

B&M do trays of the individual jam portions, and it's always worth buying a kilo sack & dividing it down of dried fruit, almond powder, various nuts, even chocolate coated nibbles.

Depending on your lot's nut allergy status, Good Old Raisins & Peanuts (aka GORP) is a cheap & effective fuel for the inner young person. Says she who's Polo stash got raided repeatedly til I switched it for the very slightly harder to manage comestibles...

Also they may be surprised but you can enjoy cooked fruit - slices of apple, etc can be battered or just fried a bit and nibbled at.
Have a lovely time & Make Them Clean Up Afterwards!

Angel delight, but take milk powder and water instead of milk, unless they have to carry all their water.
    Cake and instant custard
Stuffed cones - ice cream cone filled with chocolate, marshmallows, fresh fruit, dried fruit, etc, wrapped in foil and cooked
    Popcorn
    Pancakes
    Zebras rock
